What is Counselling ?
Having experienced person-centred counselling myself, I know how daunting it can feel to take the first step and ask for help.
I also understand how powerful, healing and transformative the counselling process can be when you feel genuinely supported and accepted.
For many people, counselling can be the beginning of a journey from simply surviving life to living it more fully.
I see counselling as a journey - like travelling together on a boat along a river
(Margaret Harkness, 2001).
You remain the person steering and navigating your path, while I travel alongside you, offering support, understanding and guidance.
Sometimes people come to counselling feeling stuck, as though their boat has reached a dam blocking their way forward.
Together, we can explore what is holding you there and find ways to move beyond it.
Along the journey, there may be rocks, unexpected turns, waterfalls, calm waters or new directions to explore.
Whatever arises, I will be alongside you, helping you navigate your journey with compassion and support as you move towards the life you want to live.
“The good life is a process, not a state of being. It is a direction, not a destination.” Carl Rogers
